08/09/2017 - Temporary Studio / workshop assistant

Hours: 15 to 40 flexible / casual
Pay: above minimum.
Temporary, until just before Christmas 2017.

We are currently looking for a Studio/ Workshop Assistant to assist in the manufacture of polystyrene products for visual display and industry. We are a nationally recognized firm, established over 45 years ago. Our customers include leading high street department stores, Film companies, set designers, photographic studios, and exhibitions. The main elements of the job will involve keeping the studio and warehouse clean and tidy, packing and preparing orders for delivery, and assisting in the production of our standard products. There will be some basic computer / admin work from time to time. The successful candidate will be practical, with methodical, tidy working practices, able to identify and work with hand tools, and be a non smoker. In addition they should have basic computer skills. The position would suit someone in the Cardiff area due to the variety and duration of hours to be worked, which will sometimes include short hours at short notice.

Job Specification:

The successful candidate will undertake all aspects of studio, workshop and warehouse tasks as requested, providing support and help to the team. As well as some basic office admin work It should be noted that this specification is not an exhaustive list and that duties will change from time to time to reflect the changing demands of the business.

Duties will include:

• Ensuring the studio, warehouse and tools are clean, tidy and in good order • Unloading goods and manoeuvring stock • Assisting in the production of products • Packing orders for delivery •Answering the telephone and taking messages when required & Basic admin

Experience/ Qualifications

Essential:

• GCSE Art or equivalent experience.
Or GCSE Product Design / CDT etc.. or equivalent experience
•Experience of working with wood, metal or plastic

Desirable – But NOT essential.:

• A-level / foundation art or relevant experience.
• Carpentry Experience.
• Painting / Decorating Experience.
• GCSE Technical drawing or relevant experience
• Basic experience of Microsoft Office and Corel Draw, or equivalent packages
• Studio photography ( not essential )
