Graham Sweet Studios has been producing props for exhibitions since 1969. As experienced prop manufacturers in the UK, our team combines traditional polystyrene sculpting with modern CNC machining, 3D modelling, high-performance eco materials, and in-house scenic painting and finishing.

We work flexibly with our customers at any stage of the process. Some projects arrive with production-ready files, while others start as a rough sketch or reference idea. In both cases, we can take the project from concept through to manufacture, matching brand fonts, logos and colour references to ensure consistency with existing brand guidelines. Where required, we can supply pre-production visuals, samples or test finishes before full manufacture begins.

We understand the pressure of exhibition timelines, last-minute design changes, tight install windows and immovable show dates. We are used to working to very tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy, consistency and reliable delivery. From fabrication and finishing through to packaging and transport, everything is manufactured in-house at our Cardiff studios.

3D letters for exhibitions

3D letters, signs and logos are one of the most effective stand features for making an exhibition stand instantly recognisable. They give branding real presence, help define the stand from a distance and draw attention without relying on printed graphics alone. Well-designed giant 3D letters photograph well and provide a flexible, reusable solution for stand builders and brands across multiple shows.

We manufacture 3D letters in a range of materials to suit different briefs and budgets. Expanded polystyrene is a popular option for exhibitions as it is lightweight and flame-retardant, making it ideal for large letters and logos. Where additional strength or a sharper finish is required, polystyrene letters can be supplied with MDF or acrylic faces, with protective coatings added for improved durability. XPS offers a denser alternative where smoother finishes and finer detail are needed.

We also produce 3D letters in MDF/ plywood and cardboard. Wooden letters are well suited to repeated use, while cardboard letters offer a lightweight, more eco-conscious option for short-term or graphic-led exhibition stands.

3D props give exhibition stands something physical and eye-catching that printed graphics alone can’t achieve. They help explain products, ideas or themes quickly, create clear focal points, and make stands more memorable from a distance. Well-placed exhibition stand props also encourage engagement and create strong photo opportunities that visitors are happy to share on social media.

Crucially, they cause passers-by to stop and engage, creating a natural opportunity to start a conversation — particularly useful where a product or service is difficult to explain quickly using graphics alone.

We’ve been designing and manufacturing custom exhibition props in the UK for many years and understand how they need to work on site. Our props are built to the right scale, finished for display, and designed with handling, transport and installation in mind. We work closely with stand builders, agencies and brands to produce reliable, well-made props that do exactly what they’re meant to do.

Most of our exhibition props are manufactured in polystyrene, which allows us to create large, lightweight forms efficiently. These can be coated or finished in a range of ways, including Jesmonite coatings for added durability and surface detail. We also produce props using mixed materials such as MDF, timber and other sheet materials where structure or rigidity is required. For higher-spec applications or long-term use, fibreglass can be used where appropriate.

Working with stand builders, agencies & exhibitors

We regularly act as a manufacturing partner for exhibition stand builders, supplying props, signage and stand features that integrate directly into their builds. We also work directly with exhibitors where the requirement is for props that can be installed in-house.

White-label production and confidentiality are a normal part of how we work. A large proportion of our projects are delivered on behalf of design agencies and stand builders, and we are used to keeping work strictly confidential throughout the process.

Where required, props can be delivered to site in plain packaging using unbranded vehicles. We are also happy to work with client-supplied paperwork, delivery notes and labels, allowing projects to remain fully white-label from manufacture through to installation.
