Recently, we produced oversized pearl props for the window display at Missoma, bringing a bold and elegant visual concept to life.

The props needed to feel refined, sculptural, and premium, while capturing the soft lustre and smooth finish associated with natural pearls, but at a dramatically enlarged scale.

To achieve this, we produced the the shapes from polystyrene. This allowed us to create oversized shapes that were easy to handle and install while still providing the flexibility to achieve the organic curves. Once the core shapes were produced, the finishing process became key to achieving the final look. Polystyrene offers a great lightweight core, but transforming it into a flawless pearl effect requires several stages of refinement.

Each piece was carefully prepared and coated to create a smooth surface, and attention paid to detail during the finishing stages ensured the final props complemented the brands’ image.
