We manufacture 3D polystyrene letters, numbers and bespoke logos in the UK. Available freestanding, wall mounted or hand-held, they are cut from high-quality display-grade expanded polystyrene containing a flame-retardant additive.
They can be supplied in natural white, painted, glittered, faced with acrylic, MDF or plywood, or finished in one of our specialist coatings. We also manufacture custom company logos from supplied artwork.
We also manufacture 3D letters from MDF, plywood, cardboard, XPS and other foam materials when these are better suited to the project.
We produce 3D polystyrene and XPS letters for everything from small wall-mounted signs to giant freestanding letters for exhibitions, events and festivals.
Choose from our range of economical house fonts, or supply your own font, logo or artwork. Whether you need one set of letters for a photo shoot or hundreds of signs for a nationwide rollout, every project is manufactured to order in our UK studios.

We have over 50 years' experience cutting expanded polystyrene. During that time, we have developed specialist techniques to achieve a much smoother surface finish than is normally possible.
Unlike many manufacturers, we do not cut through the face of a letter to remove its centre wherever the size and design allow. This keeps the finished face free from unsightly lines and marks.
We only work with polystyrene containing a flame-retardant additive, so there is no risk of it being mixed with another grade in our workshop. Where appropriate, a specialist coating can further improve fire performance while making the letters considerably stronger.
Our refined cutting techniques minimise the natural bead texture and reduce visible cutting lines. For smaller letters viewed close up, XPS can provide an even smoother closed-cell surface.
Many companies cut through the edge when removing the centre from characters such as D, O, P, R, A, 8 and 9. The resulting line across the face is difficult to disguise. Wherever possible, we remove these centres without cutting through the face.
Very large letters may need to be manufactured in sections because of raw material size limits. If this is necessary, we will explain it in advance and position joins as discreetly as possible.
Over the years we’ve manufactured 3D letters and other display props for businesses of every size, from independent retailers and creative agencies to some of the UK’s best-known organisations.

More than 50 years of delivering retail rollouts, events and exhibitions in the UK and overseas has taught us the importance of deadlines. When we agree a delivery date, we do everything practical to meet it.

One of the biggest advantages of polystyrene letters is how lightweight they are. This simplifies handling and makes them ideal for exhibitions, events, photo shoots, in-store displays and outdoor signage.
Even very large letters remain surprisingly light and can often be handled by one person, although the largest displays may require two or more people.
Compared with metal or wooden letters of the same size, polystyrene significantly reduces transport, handling and installation weight.

Many projects are manufactured for creative agencies, exhibition contractors, sign companies and print businesses. We are equally happy working directly with end clients or quietly behind the scenes as part of your team.
Orders can be supplied in plain packaging, without Graham Sweet branding, and delivered directly to your client or installation site. We work to your artwork, deadlines and specifications, allowing you to take the credit while we handle the manufacturing.

We offer permanent and removable bases, wall fixings, hanging points and internal frames. Whether your letters will be freestanding, mounted to an existing structure or suspended at a venue, we will recommend a practical solution for the size, setting and expected handling.

Some logos and concepts are more challenging than freestanding lettering. Designs can appear fragile, top-heavy or difficult to realise in three dimensions.
With more than 50 years of experience, it is rare that we cannot develop a practical construction. We can adjust thicknesses, split components, add discreet supports or combine materials while keeping the intended appearance.
The packing and delivery method depends on the size and style of the letters. Many are transported within the original sheet they were cut from, providing excellent protection. Larger items may use a combination of polystyrene sheets, bubble wrap and cardboard.
We balance protection with avoiding unnecessary packaging. Using less packaging is not economical if the letters arrive damaged.
We work with trusted local and national couriers and can often arrange next-working-day, timed or same-day delivery. We also ship throughout the UK and internationally and will recommend a suitable service.

We can produce letters from around 50 mm high to well over 3 metres. Thicknesses normally range from 25 mm to 500 mm or more, depending on structural needs and use. Almost any practical font can be used, or you can supply artwork. Very fine designs may need minor modifications or supports.
We combine specialist in-house methods with CNC hot-wire cutting to achieve a smoother finish than standard techniques. On most sizes, we can remove the centres of letters such as O and B without cutting through the face.
Options include natural white EPS, smooth XPS, painted finishes, glitter, Foamex, vinyl card, MDF or acrylic faces, water-based protective coatings and heavy-duty polyurea. We will recommend a finish for the appearance, handling and intended life of the display.
Yes. Tell us about outdoor use before ordering so that suitable coatings, paints, supports, bases and fixings can be specified.
Plain uncoated polystyrene requires careful handling. Protective coatings make it considerably stronger, and thin MDF faces or backs can add rigidity. If maximum strength is required, consider our wooden letters.
Wall letters can use adhesives, double-sided tape, hook-and-loop fasteners or mechanical fixings. Freestanding letters may use weighted or fixed base boards and plinths. Stacked displays can use clear acrylic or other discreet supports.
Lead time depends on size, finish and quantity. As a guide, six to ten painted letters at around one metre high would normally dispatch within five to seven working days. Some urgent orders can be fast-tracked.
They are extremely lightweight. Even large letters can often be handled by one person, although the exact weight depends on size, thickness, coatings, faces and supports.
Yes. We work with Pantone, BS, RAL, HEX, RGB and paint references. RAL or paint references give the most reliable paint match. Pantone colours are intended for ink, but we have extensive experience finding close paint equivalents.
Yes. Tell us that reuse is planned so we can recommend suitable coatings, bases, construction and protective packing.
Plain uncoated EPS and its packaging can be recycled at many UK facilities. Coated letters require additional processing. We can quote to collect, process or refurbish letters that we originally manufactured, subject to condition and transport costs.
